Summer Pests to Watch For
Once summer is in full swing, you can expect a few additional pests to make their way into your yard or in the nearby woods. The most common ticks in Georgia are the Lone Star tick, American Dog tick, and Black-Legged tick.
Contrary to popular belief, ticks don’t jump onto unknowing passengers and immediately start feasting. Ticks are normally perching on tall grass, brush, or leaves and “catch a ride” onto the passerby (animal or person). After it finds an optimal feasting spot (i.e., armpit, behind the knees, or in the groin area), it will bury its head in the skin to suck the blood.
